The new school year is starting.  Children and youth are deciding what to wear the first day, learning where their class or classes are and making sure they are ready to learn!  The start of the school year is exciting and many kids look forward to going back to school.   However, some students aren’t so excited.  Maybe they don’t have enough school supplies.  Maybe they are struggling in math.  Maybe they have been bullied in the past and fear it could be like that again this year.  These are just a few areas where Communities In Schools (CIS) of Federal Way can help!

Site-Coordinator-clothesAt Mirror Lake Elementary, Sacajawea Middle and Federal Way High schools, our School Outreach Coordinators connect students and their families with community resources and services.  This year we will support over 200 students with on-going, intense support and services and nearly 2,700 through whole school activities like anti-bullying programs, after-school activities and multicultural activities.

Everyone needs some extra support sometime.  We know schools can’t do it alone.  But together, as a community, we can make sure all students have what they need to stay in school and achieve in life!
