Communities In Schools of Federal Way is a part of Federal Way Cares For Kids,  a community coalition which coordinates the talents, resources and skills of local organizations and individuals to maximize support received by kids and families served by Federal Way schools. In the Federal Way School District, 59% of students live in poverty, which equates to 13,656 students. Federal Way Cares For Kids works to partner with these students and families most in-need to help support them around the holidays, beginning of school year, and as other opportunities arise.

On December 17, Federal Way Cares For Kids will be hosting our second annual Holiday Gift Giving Event at Lakota Middle School from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm. Families most in-need from every school in the Federal Way School District will be invited by school counselors to come and select new unwrapped presents for their children.  While the parents shop for their kids, the kids will make gifts for their parents at craft stations.  Our goal is to provide this experience for 1,000 students and their families this holiday season.
